SME was commissioned to reposition the Sun Belt Conference brand within the rapidly evolving collegiate conference landscape. The assignment includes internal and external stakeholder research, positioning, identity, messaging and fan engagement.


Absent of new brand strategy, Benson is having fun with the brand. He is a charismatic leader well suited to aid SME in successfully repositioning the conference. With improving athletic programs, the Sun Belt is set to take full advantage of the new brand identity and strategy provided by SME. The Sun Belt looks to build on their roots and name, using the sun and southern hospitality as some of the primary focuses of their new brand. With the Sun Belt unafraid to publicly take on established conferences such as C-USA, SME is excited to undertake this project with their bold new clients.
